This webinar helped attendees get ready for this year’s National Distracted Driving Enforcement Mobilization: U Drive. U Text. U Pay.

Significant numbers of drivers fail to give the road their full attention when they are behind the wheel, and law enforcement is a critical partner in deterring this dangerous behavior. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shared creative strategies that have been used to conduct distracted driving enforcement, detailed recent activities going on across the country, and provided information on this year’s distracted driving enforcement and community engagement effort. As law enforcement agencies prepare for the high visibility enforcement period, attendees also received a refresher on the campaign communication resources available.

Additionally, NHTSA provided an overview of the Takata Air Bag Recall, the largest recall in U.S. automotive history. Multiple deaths and injuries have occurred in the United States alone due to these deadly air bags. Participants learned what they can do to reach out to consumers in their communities to urge vehicle owners to check for open recalls and obtain free repairs.
