The National LEL Program’s April webinar featured a briefing from the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) on its new 2018 Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST), and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) curricula. IACP’s Kyle Clark highlighted the features and latest updates to each course, which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and IACP have recently revised. SFST course revisions include new videos, changes to the legal environment session, and a restructuring of the report writing session. The ARIDE course now includes a roadside sobriety test, changes in the practical scenarios, and updated information from recent studies. This webinar also reviewed administrative changes affecting the courses.
